The School Is Currently Looking To Recruit a
ACADEMIC ENGLISH ASSISTANT
Applications are invited from enthusiastic, qualified individuals for the post of Academic English Assistant. Holding an undergraduate degree is a minimum (with teacher qualifications preferred) along with experience supporting English as Additional Language learners. The Academic English Assistant provides bespoke 1:1 and small group support for Secondary students, ranging from consolidating basic EAL language skills to developing academic research and writing skills, with a specific focus on supporting Key Stage 5 students through the Extended Essay and Internal Assessment components of the IB Diploma.
About The Department
The EAL (English as an Additional Language) Department works to support small groups of students who need additional support to develop their English Language skills. The EAL team focuses on providing support for students in reading, writing, speaking and confidence in using English Language. Students are withdrawn from mainstream English or MFL classes in order for additional support to take place, with students having the opportunity to complete English as a 2nd Language at IGCSE level and IBDP English B. The EAL department is well resourced, with modern classroom spaces and excellent physical texts and online platforms available to support all learners.

Our primary students follow the English National Curriculum blended with the thematic and interactive International Primary Curriculum and achieve outstanding outcomes. In Secondary our students continue with the English National Curriculum at Key Stage 3 in preparation for their IGCSEs and later, the rigorous IBDP. Our 2023 cohort of 107 IBDP graduates achieved an average score of 36.7 points, significantly higher than the global average of 30.2 points with 37.4 % of our students achieving 40 points or more and 3 students achieving a perfect score of 45. At IGCSE our students are equally successful. Our 2023 cohort of 130 students achieved 70.2% of grades at A*/A with 98.5% of our students achieving A* - C in 5 or more subjects and 25 students achieving A*/A grades across all their subjects.
Beyond academics, we have an exceptional enrichment programme with over 100 Co-Curricular activities and expeditions both in Vietnam and globally that help our students overcome challenges, build confidence, create unforgettable memories and create change to the communities around them.
