Job Title: Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) Calibration Engineer

Job Summary:
The Battery Electric Vehicle Calibration Engineer is responsible for the development, testing, and validation of electric powertrain control systems to ensure optimal performance, energy efficiency, and regulatory compliance. This role involves working with advanced diagnostic tools, conducting real-world testing, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to refine electric powertrain systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and optimize electric powertrain control algorithms for performance, energy efficiency, drivability, and range.
- Conduct vehicle and bench tests to calibrate electric powertrain control modules (PCMs) and electronic control units (ECUs).
- Analyze data from dynamometers, battery test rigs, and on-road testing to identify calibration needs.
- Perform software and hardware validation to ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
- Utilize advanced diagnostic tools and software (e.g., MATLAB/Simulink, ETAS INCA, Vector CANape) for calibration and data analysis.
- Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, and software engineers to integrate and validate electric powertrain systems.
- Develop and maintain calibration documentation, including test plans, reports, and calibration databases.
- Support vehicle development programs from prototype to production.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to electric powertrain performance and energy management.
- Stay updated with industry trends, regulatory changes, and advancements in BEV technology.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in electric powertrain calibration or a related role in the automotive industry.
- Proficiency with calibration tools such as ETAS INCA, Vector CANape, and MATLAB/Simulink.
- Strong understanding of electric motor operation, battery management systems (BMS), and energy management strategies.
- Experience with vehicle and component testing procedures, including dynamometer and battery testing.
- Knowledge of automotive regulations and standards (e.g., EPA, CARB, Euro 6, WLTP).
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong analytical and data interpretation abilities.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience with hybrid or electric vehicle powertrain systems.
- Familiarity with advanced BEV technologies (e.g., fast charging, regenerative braking, thermal management systems).
- Certification in automotive diagnostics or calibration (e.g., SAE, ASE).
