A DAY IN THE LIFE
Reporting to the SVP of HR, you will play an important role designing and administering our Canada benefits strategy and mobility programs in partnership with vendors. You will:
- Own and manage the overall Canada benefits strategy and daily operations activities
- Manage and communicate Canada employee benefit programs (health, retirement, leave, etc.)
- Oversee and coordinate the day-to-day administration of employee benefit programs including responding to employee benefit questions, providing conversion packages to exiting employees, uploading retirement contributions
- Communicate and assist employees with enrollment, changes and routine questions regarding all benefit programs
- Review health plan invoices for accuracy, resolve discrepancies and administrative issues relating to incorrect billing with carriers, reconcile benefit deductions to invoices
- Evaluate existing benefit programs and proposing changes, as well as developing new programs
- Coordinate annual open enrollment activities such as schedule and conduct open enrollment and change management meetings, preparation and assembly of all materials
- Collaborate with Payroll in ensuring accurate benefit deductions are taken and pay adjustments for employees on leave are made; resolve discrepancies
- Provide updates to benefit providers, manage relationships with all external benefit providers, brokers, and other agents
- Manage Canada leave of absences including maternity, parental and disability
- Coordinate with HRBP's and disability providers including completing employer disability forms, reporting hours to disability provider
- Manage benefit module in HRIS (Workday) and integrations with third party providers. Collaborate with HRIS team and third-party consultants to troubleshoot system issues
- Communicates to internal and external stakeholders all changes in benefits plans and programs to ensure systems and resources are available to support and manage such changes
- Participate in acquisitions and provide subject matter expertise to integrate acquired companies benefits
- Orchestrate the immigration and relocation processes for employees moving from and to Canada from and to another country
- Champion a positive employee experience throughout the mobility process
- Ensure moves into Canada are consistently handled regarding compensation and benefits
- Enhance cultural integration and cross-border support
- Coordinate the benefits due diligence and integration for Canadian acquisitions
Necessary Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, individuals must be able to perform each duty and responsibility, listed in the A Day in the Life section above, satisfactorily and work from our Calgary office 3 days a week and make periodic visits to US for multiday stays. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required:
- 5+ years of experience in designing and administering employee benefits, as well as a thorough understanding of employee mobility
- Ability to identify, design and implement competitive benefits strategies
- Ability to perform billing and benefits reconciliation transactional activities
- Experience in administering leaves
- Strong delivery of customer service
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Leverage office tools to effectively achieve time management skills (MS Office, Workday, etc.)
- Ability to act independently with minimal supervision and provide right direction to the benefits area
- Ability to handle confidential information in a professional and discreet manner
- Intellectual curiosity with strong desire for continued learning and personal development including staying abreast of employee benefits and mobility trends and changes
- Excellent oral and written communications skills demonstrating good judgement when delivering information
- Ability to maintain effective working relationships with customers of all organization levels
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
