Our client is a leading cashew processing company who is looking for a qualified candidate to join their firm.
HSE Leadership
- Guide and mentor the site leadership team to implement and achieve the established HSE plans, aligning with the national HSE strategy and goals.
- Proactively seek ways to enhance the effectiveness of teamwork within the factory.
- Embody the core values of the company in all interactions with internal and external stakeholders.
- Oversee the execution of HSE plans and ensure adherence to timelines at the facility.
- Lead HSE initiatives at the site and engage in learning and sharing opportunities across the country and the annual plan.
HSE Strategy & Planning
- Contribute to crafting the HSE strategy and roadmap for the plant that aligns with the business vision, strategy, and values.
- Identify, promote, and implement best practices at the site and within the national/annual planning community.
- Participate in or lead health, safety, and environmental projects and programs as needed by the factory.
- Provide monthly updates on HSE performance to foster employee involvement in safety and environmental matters, share best practices, enhance accountability, and review performance metrics.
- Proactively address obstacles to success, escalate issues or performance shortfalls, investigate accidents, and handle compliance and regulatory matters.
- Monitor and report progress on plans and performance indicators, leveraging networking within the HSE community to evaluate the effectiveness of these plans.
HSE Systems And Compliance Technical Support
- Offer expert advice on health, safety, and environmental matters to the manufacturing site. Stay informed on current legislation in the operating country.
- Coach and guide site leadership teams on health, safety, and environmental issues, and manage these issues directly if required.
- Ensure the sharing of best practices among all HSE professionals and the Site Leadership Team to standardize approaches and improve the culture.
- Ensure adherence to all legal, regulatory, and corporate HSE requirements, and update sites on any changes or updates as necessary.
- Coordinate consistent facility access, induction, and orientation processes for all employees and contractors.
- Aim to reduce risk levels across operational activities, focusing on plant, equipment, and tasks performed across all functions.
- Implement safety accreditations, specifically OHSAS 18001, and environmental accreditations, specifically ISO 14001.
- Lead and manage HSE projects and programs as required by the factory.
Counsel & Advice
- Provide coaching and mentorship to factory team members and HSE staff on health, safety, and environmental issues as needed.
- Take an active role in managing significant health and safety issues at the site level.
Employee Health & Wellbeing
- Assist in developing and implementing a consistent approach to proactive health and wellbeing across the Annual Plan.
HSE Incident Management & Reporting
- Ensure that HSE incidents are reported and investigated according to guidelines, with information shared across factories when applicable.
- Conduct effective investigations of HSE incidents to determine root causes.
- Ensure clear reporting and consolidation of data from site activities, identifying potential risks and collaborating with local management to develop mitigation plans.
- Actively participate in incident management and investigation as necessary.
- Coordinate with senior management and regulators/authorities during serious incident management.
Behavioral Safety & Culture
- Engage in the development and execution of initiatives aimed at improving employee engagement in HSE outcomes and culture.
- Provide support and coaching to factory leaders and managers to enhance engagement with employees and contractors across sites.
HSE Training & Communications
- Conduct a training needs assessment to ensure compliance with legal requirements and support continuous improvement.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of training programs, including competency assessment for skills training.
- Develop and deliver consistent training packages to support factory procedures, legal, and business-specific needs.
- Deliver training as needed.
- Promote HSE through various communication methods and engagement strategies for site leadership teams.
Requirements
Education:
- Bachelor's degree from a university or college.
- Certification related to occupational health and safety.
Experience
- Practical knowledge in occupational safety and environmental management.
- At least 5 years of experience in industrial safety or as a safety engineer in a factory or construction site, with 2 years in a managerial role.
Functional Skills
- Strong understanding of integrated management systems for safety and environment.
- Ability to achieve consensus and engage plant leadership and employees in safety management.
- Knowledge of OSHAS 18000/ISO 14001 interpretation and application.
- Familiarity with current HSE issues, methodologies, and practices.
- In-depth knowledge of HSE processes including HIRA, Root Cause Analysis, Lock Out Tag Out, PPE Assessments, Behavioral Safety, Ergonomics, Design Safety Reviews, Permit to Work, and Contractor Safety Management.
- Knowledge of HSE and industrial hygiene regulations.
- Ability to review, interpret, and apply safety legislation, standards, and regulatory guidance.
Competencies
- Knowledge of local health and safety laws.

- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite at an intermediate level or higher.
- Strong skills in root cause analysis and risk assessment.
