Due to continued growth, diversification of certain product lines, and overall expansion, there is now a strategic need to recruit a Manufacturing Director.
Main Purpose
The main purpose of this role is to direct and coordinate the operations teams, including Production, Engineering, and Technical departments, to achieve the goals and objectives of the organization. This involves ensuring a right-first-time manufacturing approach and establishing strategic goals for operational efficiency and productivity.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Planning:
- Provide guidance and expertise in operational strategic planning to the Board of Directors (BOD) in setting goals to foster company growth.
- Manage and oversee the daily activities of the manufacturing operation team.
- Work with the BOD and Heads of Departments to set budgets, establish milestone growth, and plan personnel to meet business objectives.
- Attend and contribute to executive board meetings to influence strategy and identify market opportunities.
Manufacturing Operation Management:
- Develop, implement, and optimize manufacturing processes for electronic components, focusing on efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and quality, while identifying opportunities for automation and the integration of new technologies to enhance manufacturing processes.
- Review and improve existing systems and policies.
- Ensure timely production output and maintain quality assurance standards. Implement and maintain quality control measures to ensure products meet or exceed industry standards and customer expectations.
- Effectively and efficiently deliver all projects within the business unit according to agreed quality, scope, time, budget, and margin.
- Establish a productivity improvement plan with annual measures and targets for efficiency gains year-on-year.
Safety:
- Promote and enforce workplace safety. Ensure compliance with industry regulations, safety standards, and environmental guidelines.
People:
- Lead the manufacturing operation and people agenda, inspiring and developing team engagement and performance.
Core Experience/Qualifications:
- Experience at the Plant Operations Director or Head of Manufacturing level in the FMCG manufacturing industry.
- Experience leading and implementing successful manufacturing operational changes within FMCG manufacturing companies.
- Strategic experience in shaping operations and engaging at the board level.
- Expertise in leading, implementing, and refining site-specific lean processes.
- Demonstrated track record in a senior leadership/director role (or equivalent).
- Comprehensive understanding of commercial awareness, consulting, and strategic acumen.
- Highly advanced understanding of wider management principles and techniques.
- Change management skills; acting as a change agent executive.
- Ability to influence, develop, and create a cohesive leadership team to oversee the operations of the portfolio.
- Ability to work on short- and long-term strategic plans, promoting sustainable and innovative solutions, knowledge capture, and best practices in service delivery.
- Advanced communication skills, effectively communicating at the C-suite level and with all levels in the organization.
- Ability to manage and influence key senior internal (C-suite) and external stakeholders, providing leadership and guidance to the operational portfolio.
