Key job responsibilities

The Senior Global Commodity Manager (GCM) is a critical part of the development process and is responsible for formulating, communicating and executing a sourcing strategy relative to the respective commodity and device.

  • Lead supplier sourcing / selection activities and successfully manages the supplier relationship to ensure that the supply chain is capable of delivering high quality, cost effective materials, finish goods and tested sub-assy in a fast paced dynamic and sometimes ambiguous environment.
  • Engage with an experienced cross-disciplinary staff to conceive, design and develop innovative consumer products. Must be responsive, flexible and able to succeed within an open collaborative peer environment.
  • Primarily focus on cost improvement, supply chain efficiency, supplier management, as well as all sourcing activities within Lab126 accessories team.
  • Ensure that the respective commodity meets the technical specifications and cost requirements necessary for Lab126 to develop great products for its customers.
  • Work closely with Engineering to influence technical design decisions, meet custom product requirements, and reach business objectives.
  • Work directly with contract manufacturers (CMs) and suppliers to ensure effective material management, procurement, CTB readiness, production scheduling, and build plan alignment to meet Amazon's PO's.
  • Drive materials to meet forecast and validate material fulfillment from materials perspective.
  • Drive solutions to reduce, eliminate and mitigate shortages that hinder meeting order schedules
  • Manage the Approved Vendors List (AVL) and drives supplier business review (SBR) for continuous improvement in supplier performance such as cost, quality, supply, technology, service, environment and ethics.
  • Maintain knowledge of market trends including rigorous analysis of market drivers, cost structures and technical improvements.
  • Travel 30% to supplier's manufacturing sites.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Operations, Supply Chain Management, Engineering or related field.
  • Total 7+ years of experience in high volume manufacturing operations with hands-on knowledge in three of the four areas: mechanical, electrical, chemical and optical processes such as CNC, molding, gluing, welding, SMT, AOI, anodizing, IMD, and final assembly and testing.
  • Of which 5+ years experience in NPI and sustaining operation of supply chain management including but not limited to cost reduction, complex cost modeling, NRE, quotation analysis, build readiness, supplier selection, supplier performance management and E/O.
  • Global supply chain experience managing cross functional teams in a fast pace consumer electronics industry.
  • Proven record of actively managing all aspects of product cost such as complex CAPEX, unit price and contract negotiation etc. from concept through end of service
  • Proven success in program management, sourcing strategy, market research, risk mitigation and six sigma methodologies.
  • Influences the features and detailed functional requirements and end user/customer's needs.
  • Work requires creativity and judgement. Strong attention to details. Operates with considerable autonomy and discretion.
  • Excellent analytical skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in engineering curriculum.
  • Excellent Written and verbal communication skills in English. Fluency in Chinese/Vietnamese is a plus.
  • Extensive experience in consumer electronics and product life cycle management.
  • Familiar with consumer electronics supply base.
  • Advanced Excel modeling capability such as writing macro.
  • Knowledge of continuous improvement, quality management systems and BUG tracking systems.
