Job Description
JOB PURPOSE
This job holder must lead a team of quality assurance staff to perform their routine duties in the factory to mainly prevent issues from occurring and making sure all corrective action plans are in place. With deep knowledge in production process and quality assurance, they should be able to find solutions to recurring issues and initiate projects and evaluations to improve product quality and reliability and achieve customer satisfaction. Their ensure proper production controls are being enforced by the vendor's own QA/QC team. They must also insure they has adequate staff coverage within each factory.
Job Responsibilities & Duties
Team management
- Lead a factory QA team - handling issues while dealing with subordinates. Assist the QA manager to determine daily/weekly QA manpower arrangements. Ensure QA is properly deployed within the factory to give the optimum coverage on process controls.
- Train and coach junior QA to perform their assigned tasks.
- Ensure that all equipment and tools used during quality assurance processes are properly used, taken cared and maintained properly during its lifetime.
- Performance review for direct reports on quarterly and annual basis.
Quality Assurance and Control
- Arrange QA to lead the vendors inspection team to be in charge production process basing on QA's strengths/experience and factory process.
- Using obtained data from quality returns and tracking system, guide QA and factory teams to set up processes and procedures like first piece reviews, pilot runs, moisture controls, critical testing, production verifications etc.
- Provide accurate and timely quality control reports to the immediate manager.
- Apply AQL (Acceptable Quality Level) during in-line inspections on top- and high-level SKU's to assure products are shipped with the same quality level as expected.
Purchase Order (PO) progress tracking and Inspection Certificate Production status.
- Ensure QA team to track production components daily in production line in accordance with WSI procedures.
- Weekly submit the production status to QA Manager, SCO, and Merchant teams.
- Coordinate with QA teams and vendor team to achieve production schedules and at the same time achieve quality standards required.
Pre Production Meeting, Product Development and Production Management
- Attend pre-production meetings (PPM) and any pilot runs conducted by the Furniture Engineer team with the factory production team, making sure the all the requirements on construction, assembly (with instruction - AI) and packing requirements are met before mass production.
Co-operate with factories/vendors to implement corrective action plan (CAP) and process checks.
- Management of Defect Tracking System (DTS) data/action line, return and replacements data and production's issues seen during manufacturing. Making sure these data are effectively used to improve quality and build preventive action plan as necessary.
- Tracking and follow - up on any unsolved and recurring issues and able to provide accurate data as tools to minimize the occurrence.
- Keep the QA Manager well informed of any potential issues that will affect product quality and reliability.
Test report and reference sample/document update/record.
- Making sure QA team has complete and update references - master control sample (MCS) and master control panel (MCP), product data sheet (PDS), test reports, standards and quality requirements, latest communications, and any information on the product before it runs in production. Also ensure that these references are maintained and updated at the factory level.
- Co-operate with factories. Lab technicians, finishing and furniture engineers and packing engineer on performing in-house tests when required.
Job Holder's Competencies & Experience
Experience (and Knowledge)
The incumbent must have proficient knowledge in the following areas:
- With 3-5 years of relative experience to quality assurance and quality control with adequate knowledge and technical experience on furniture and production processes and decorative accessories manufacturing system.
- Adequate understanding and knowledge on furniture and decorative accessories quality control processes and systems.
- Adequate knowledge and understanding finishing process, testing and trouble shooting.
- Ability to understand technical drawings.
- Basic knowledge and experience in testing tools/furniture production machines and application is an advantage but not strictly required.
- Must be capable to engage with vendor management and be able to implement quality standards on production floor.
- Must be at least on college level or have College Degree.
Skills (Technical Skillset)
The incumbent must demonstrate the following skills:
- Being able to communicate in English/Mandarin is a huge advantage.
- Good communication, accuracy of information, planning and organizational skills.
- Good eyesight and preferably not color blind.
- Ability to work under high pressure.
- Computer skills including the Excel, Word, Power Point, e-mail is an advantage.
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills
