Job Description
Operate and monitor water treatment equipment and processes to ensure the delivery of clean and safe treated water to the community.
Maintain and operate the filtering, chemical and biological treatment processes
Perform regular inspections and tests on water samples to monitor the quality of treated water, including pH levels, chlorine levels, turbidity, and other parameters.
Adjust treatment processes and equipment settings as necessary to maintain compliance with regulatory standards.
Maintain accurate records of water treatment plant operations, including daily logs, test results, chemical usage, and maintenance activities.
Analyze data and trends to identify issues or potential improvements in the water treatment process, and implement necessary corrective actions.
Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations and guidelines, such as those set by the company and any local competent agencies.
Respond to emergencies or equipment malfunctions in a timely manner to minimize disruption to the water treatment process and prevent any impact on public health.
Inspect the treatment plant systems on a daily basis to ensure effective operations
Collaborate with other operators and maintenance staff to coordinate plant operations and maintenance activities.
Perform routine maintenance and repairs on water treatment equipment, such as pumps, valves, filters, and chemical feed systems
Arrange for major repairs
Ensure the compliance of HSE as per company policy and local regulation
Stay updated on the latest advancements in water treatment technology and regulations to ensure continuous improvement in plant operations
Assist Plant Director with budgets and financial reports for the water /wastewater treatment plant
Prepare activity and work order reports
Recommend the purchase of goods and equipment
Maintain inventories
Supervise and schedule the activities of the Water / Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator(s), casual staff, contractor, supplier
Review timesheets compile by admin officer, identify errors for correction, approve and forward to Plant Director
Submit weekly operation report to Plant Director
Perform other related duties, as required
Requirement:
Required Skills
Strong technical knowledge of water treatment processes, equipment, and systems.
Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills to identify and resolve issues that may arise during the treatment process.
Attention to detail to accurately monitor and analyze water samples and equipment readings.
Ability to interpret and apply regulations and guidelines related to water treatment, safety, and environmental protection.
Effective communication skills to coordinate and collaborate with team members, regulatory agencies, and other stakeholders.
Client service skills
Physical stamina and agility to perform routine maintenance tasks, climb ladders, and lift heavy equipment.
Ability to work independently and make quick decisions in emergency situations.
Proficient computer skills for data entry, analysis, and reporting.
Required Qualifications
Minimum bachelor degree gradation with environment background
Valid water treatment operator certification/license, as required
Min 10 years relevant experience working in a water treatment plant or a similar field.
Knowledge of water treatment regulations and guidelines.
Strong knowledge about HSE in WWTP.
Willingness to work on a rotating shift schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Hard working, enthusiasm, dynamic, self-confidence to meet deadlines
Well organized, detail-oriented
