Tricon is seeking an Operations Specialist, to support of one or more Global Product Managers / traders. It has the overall responsibility for fully implementing business transactions after sales or purchases are booked by the GPM / trader.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Works closely with the traders on all aspects of the business execution.
- Prepares purchase and sale confirmations.
- Maintains purchase and sales files.
- Tracks vessels and confirms estimated times of arrival.
- Ensures appropriate customs requirements are met.
- Obtains Letters of Credit from banks / LC team and reviews for accuracy of content.
- Prepares bank amendments and Letters of Credit.
- Opens Letters of Credit on purchase transactions.
- Maintains shipment and banking files.
- Maintains inventory system.
- Solves any problems through personal telephone contact with involved parties (brokers, suppliers, customers, shipping companies, etc.)
- Conducts in-depth negotiation and analysis of freight costs and makes recommendations and decisions on carriers, routes and modes of transportation.
- Manages outsourced activities such as freight services for both domestic and international freight to assure standards are met, proper controls are in place, regulations are followed and desired outcomes are achieved.
- Prepares logistics cost forecasts for domestic and international shipments and submits to the Upper Management.
- Controls warehouse and inventory control activities. Reviews and modifies levels as demands change.
- Coordinates inbound and outbound material transportation to ensure there are no stock outs. Prepares reports for senior management regarding material control activities.
- Provides analysis and inputs to maximize efficiency in product movements, stocking points, and production locations.
Qualifications/Skills
- Pro-active with a high energy level and sense of urgency.
- A self-starter, able to work with minimum supervision to recognize situations with potential liability and take appropriate preventive or mitigating action.
- Possessing a high level of personal discipline, detail oriented, meticulous and focused on making accurate assessments and producing timely results.
- Possessing strong communication skills and demonstrating creative problem solving skills through relationship management.
- Languages: English as office working language.
- Effective time manager who keeps commitments and consistently meets deadlines.
- Good communicator, throughout all levels of the company, ship owners/brokers, suppliers and customers.
- Be familiar with chemicals, especially in Plastics containers experience.
Experience/Education
- Work experience related to the import/export/shipment of commodities, preferably plastics.
- Familiarity with all required documentation and Incoterms.
- An undergraduate degree in chemicals, maritime logistics, supply chain management or related discipline is required.
- Alternatively, a combination of education and related work experience may be considered.
