About The Job We are seeking a Mid- to Senior level Restoration Engineer to join Dudek's Habitat Restoration Practice, where you will provide technical leadership and expertise on river and stream restoration design projects throughout California. In this role, you will collaborate with an experienced team of engineers, geomorphologists, and restoration professionals in conceptual design, design development, construction document preparation, and quality assurance and quality control reviews, and construction support for instream and off-channel habitat restoration, fish passage projects, and flow enhancement projects, among other things. You will be empowered to help market and grow Dudek's restoration practice while putting your passion for river and watershed restoration to work. You will also play a role in mentoring, guiding, and learning from our interdisciplinary team, fostering knowledge-sharing and professional growth.

Duties and Responsibilities (may include some or all of the below):
Lead the engineering design process and perform in-depth reviews for complex restoration projects.
Overseeing the precise preparation of engineering plans, specifications, and cost estimates.
Provide mentorship and support to staff, promoting skill development, knowledge sharing, and technical training.
Implement and uphold rigorous quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) protocols, ensuring adherence to best practices in civil engineering.
Collaborate with and take direction from multidisciplinary team of geomorphologists, ecologist, and biologist to advance river restoration projects from initial concept through to successful completion.
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Civil Engineering or a closely related field
7+ years of experience in river engineering, geomorphology, hydrology and hydraulic analysis and modelling, and/or stream restoration
3+ years of experience serving as lead engineer for river restoration projects
Proven expertise in river restoration design and engineering with completed and successful projects to demonstrate skills
Strong collaboration skills with working knowledge of geomorphology, stream morphology, hydrology, and landscape ecology
Field experience in directing and managing crews on-site, construction supervision, and able to direct field adaptations as needed to solve problems and remain within contracting limits
Specialized skills in fish passage design and barrier removal techniques
Must possess a valid driver's license and have active personal automobile liability insurance by first day of employment

Preferred Qualifications
Proven leadership abilities with experience in managing interdisciplinary teams and mentoring junior staff
Expertise in biotechnical bank treatments, precision grading, large wood structure engineering, and various state-of-the-art construction methods
Proficiency in hydrology and hydraulics modeling and/or sediment transport analysis and modeling
California Professional Engineer (PE) license
Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
Project experience or PE licensure within Oregon, Washington, and/or Idaho
Physical Requirements Working Conditions:
This job operates in a remote or office-based environment and this role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, printers, etc.
This job requires occasional project site visits-based outdoors which can include excessive noise, uneven walking surfaces, extreme weather, moving vehicles and equipment.
