The Opportunity
Our client, an Australian firm of Chartered Accountants and specialist business advisors with the team has over 18 years combined experience in professional accounting and taxation services. They are looking for a Senior Tax Accountant who has previous experience in Australian accounting standards and client service.
The Senior Tax Accountant will be responsible for managing complex tax compliance and advisory services for business clients, ensuring adherence to Australian tax regulations. This role requires in-depth tax knowledge, client management skills, and the ability to supervise junior staff.
Key Responsibilities
Tax Compliance & Advisory:
- Prepare and review individual, corporate, trust, partnership and SMSF tax returns.
- Ensure compliance with ATO regulations and deadlines
- Manage and coordinate tax audits and notices.
- Provide strategic tax planning and advisory services to clients.
Client Management:
- Develop and maintain strong client relationships.
- Conduct client meetings to discuss tax planning and compliance matters.
- Identify and address client tax issues proactively.
Staff Supervision:
- Supervise and mentor junior tax accountants.
- Review work performed by junior staff for accuracy and compliance.
- Provide training and professional development opportunities.
Compliance and Reporting:
- Stay updated on changes in tax legislation and industry developments.
- Prepare and present tax reports to management and clients.
- Assist in the preparation of financial statements as they relate to tax matters.
Key Skills & Experience
- Relevant qualifications in accounting and/or finance (CPA/CA qualified or willingness to study CPA/CA preferred)
- 5+ years of experience in tax accounting within Australian public accounting firms.
- Strong understanding of Australian tax laws and regulations
- Proficient in using accounting software XERO, MYOB, QUICKBOOKS, HANDISOFT
- Ability to manage multiple clients and deadlines.
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Excellent English is written and communication skills
