Senior Software Engineer (Python/API/Django upto 90M)

We are hiring a Senior Python Integration Developer to join a big Australian Data Company. This role focuses on key responsibilities and tasks performed when developing new product features or maintaining existing ones. It's anticipated that product developers will develop the capability to work across different parts of our technical stack as necessary, but this role profile focuses mostly on integrations Python development. We are open to working remotely and only coordinate at our office on Friday.

Responsibilities

1.Software Engineering (65% of the time) - write code, add new features, perform maintenance, fix bugs, write tests, perform code reviews, produce technical documentation.

2.Team Assistance (15% of the time) - pair with other developers, help others solve problems, teach others how the system works, discuss improvements in technology and processes, work with product owners and delivery managers to scope changes and ship projects.

3.Dev Ops (10% of the time) - building and maintaining infrastructure as code, deploying code into production, monitoring the performance of the system, assisting upgrades.

4.Support (10% of the time) - quickly respond to bugs or issues, investigate data issues, clearly communicate with the Support or Solutions team, produce documentation for the Solutions team to operate integrations, participate in the regular dev first responder roster.

Qualifications

Experience working with big data systems. In particular:

• Must You know and love Python.
• At least 6+ years of experience working with Python
• Must Strong coding skills, in particular back-end Python programming.
• Must Strong Software QA skills and experience.
• Must Good understanding of how REST APIs work, including how to deal with rate limiting, authentication, error handling, pagination, etc.
• Must Modern software engineering practices, including automated testing, continuous delivery and structured logging.
• Must Experience with data engineering using technologies such as Spark (expertise in the ETL side of data engineering is a big plus).
• Nice Solid relational database experience, from writing analytical queries in SQL to designing database schemas.
• 4+ years experience building and maintaining a back-end data processing system.
• Ideally you have worked on a particular system for a couple of years to experience the full life-cycle of building, maintaining and supporting a system for the long term.

Comp Sci, Software Eng or equivalent on-the-job experience.

• Fluent nglish both verbal & written.
